Dell says that it had accumulated $3 million in product sales using tweets to 600,000 twitter fans without any cost. The company last December announced it had surpassed $1 million in sales via its Dell Outlet on Twitter.
According to Dell's Stephanie Nelson who blogged the news about Dell with twitter, Dell Outlet uses Twitter as a way to message coupons, clearance events, and new arrival information to those looking for Dell technology at a discounted price.
The number of followers has made Dell one of the top 100 most-followed accounts on Twitter, and it's closing in on the top 50. Dell posted $12.3 billion in revenue during Q1 of 2009.
Dell explains in its blog that they've "surpassed $2 million in revenue in terms of Dell Outlet sales, but we're also seeing that it's driving interest in new product as well," and they're "seeing people come from Dell Outlet on Twitter into the Dell.com/outlet site, and then ultimately decide to purchase a new system from elsewhere on Dell.com.
If we factor those new system purchases that come from Dell Outlet, we're actually eclipsed $3 million in overall sales."
Dell tweet more regularly and offer more Twitter-exclusive offers through its now-34 Twitter accounts and the impacts is unstoppable.
