Costa Rica hit by strongest earthquake in 30 years

This is perhaps the strongest earthquake in 30 years in Costa Rica, AFP reported quoting witnesses.

So far, the Costa Rican Red Cross has informed that two people were hurt after a furniture fell. Thousands of people ran from homes into the streets according to local television reports, which also showed windows broke and walls cracked.

The earthquake took place at 1:21 p.m. local time. It was centered 6.2 miles (10 Km) East from the Poas volcano in the Alajuela province located at the west of San Jose, according to Juan Segura, a specialists of the Observatorio Vulcanolgic o y Sismologico of Costa Rica (Ovsicori), EFE reported.
