Israeli troops kill wanted Palestinian militant

The army says it attempted to arrest Islamic Jihad militant Jihad Nwada early Tuesday. He tried to escape and troops shot at him. The army says he was planning to carry out an imminent attack.

Palestinian witnesses say 23-year-old Nwada was leaving an Internet cafe near the town of Jenin when the Israeli troops arrived. He'd been wanted for a year by Israeli forces.

Israel often carries out overnight arrest raids in the West Bank for wanted Palestinian militants.
