NORTH MANKATO, Minn. - An 85-year-old table tennis champ said it's getting tough to find worthy competition. Dorothy Peterson, of North Mankato, recently returned from the Huntsman World Senior Games in Utah. She won the gold medal, but said the only other person in her age division is rather frail and might not compete next year.
She was one of the oldest female participants of the 9,000-plus competitors.
Peterson said if there's no competition she'll just continue using her home Robo-Pong machine, which tosses balls at her.
She said she'd love to see a table-tennis club started in Mankato, similar to the one in Harlingen, Texas, where she lives every January to April.
Peterson said her forte is the backspin she puts on her backhand shots.
