TV host, Ryan Seacrest has topped The Hollywood Reporter’s fourth annual Reality Power List, edging his former “American Idol” colleague, Simon Cowell.

Described by the celebrity magazine as ‘multihyphenante producer, the radio personality has outranked Cowell who held the reign from 2009 to 2010. In this year’s list released by The Hollywood Reporter, Simon was ranked No.6. Seacrest held the No.5 position in 2010 when Simon was No.1.

The magazine enumerated the following parameters in determining which among the heavyweights is the most powerful in Reality TV:

•   Owning a reputation for quality and innovation within the business;
•   The indelible mark one makes on his or her shows as overseeing executive, producer or talent;
•   The personality’s overall impact on pop culture
•   The watercoller factor: the ability to create dramatic, comedic and can’t miss TV moments.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seacrest earned the No.1 spot after reportedly expanding his ‘buzzworthy programs’. On top of his top-rated “American Idol” singing competition which found its way back kicking with the new judges this season, some of the programs associated with Seacrest include the show with the Kardashians, and the Jamie Oliver’s “Food Revolution” which the host produced and which won an Emmy in August last year.

Seacrest has also dominated the radio airwaves with his “On Air With Ryan Seacrest”, a morning radio show which is also credited for producing headline-grabbing interviews.

And his most prominent lucrative job as host of "American Idol" has been reaching an audience at an estimated 35 million weekly. Despite news of Cowell’s departure on "Idol" Season 9, Seacrest was able to make his way to the top, even able to negotiate his fee that made him the highest-paid television host in America.

The host has also founded his own foundation, named “The Voice: The Ryan Seacrest Foundation”, a non-profit organization aimed at “enhancing the quality of life for seriously ill and injured children through unique programs that utilize multimedia and interactive platforms to enlighten, entertain and educate’.
