"American Idol" 2014 also known as "American Idol XIII" is back on its ninth episode after last Thursday's episode (air date: Feb. 6, 2014) which featured the Episode 8 "Hollywood Round, Week #1." Last time it was a Group performance which tested the contestants' ability to perform with others and highlighted their teamwork, adaptability and versatility. After surviving that round, it's back to solo performances for this episode. The AI hopefuls performed their chosen songs (original or otherwise) to the best of their abilities, hoping that they will make the Top 30 for Season 13. Check out the "American Idol" 2014 Season 13 Episode 9 "Hollywood Round, Week #2" recap below.
The remaining contestants who survived last episode including Emily Piriz, Leah Guerrero, Maurice Townsend, Emmanuel Zidor, Spencer Lloyd, Jillian Jensen, Michael Simeon, LeBryant Crew, Sabrina Lantini, Madelyn Patterson and Alex Preston continued to move further on into the heart of Fox's popular reality singing competition.
The judges loved Emily Piriz and decide that she gets to be one of the Top 15 girls! Then, it's pretty boy Spencer Lloyd's turn and of course, he gets through and is also part of the Top 30. Next up is Jillian Jensen.
Check out the video below of 21-year-old Jillian Jensen (former "X-Factor" contestant) as she sings an original song and hopes the AI Season 13 judges Urban, Connick, Jr. and Lopez say yes to her being part of the Top 30 in 2014.
Thankfully, they said yes and she's in the Top 30 too!
Madelyn Patterson also performed but unfortunately, her best wasn't enough and she didn't make the cut for the AI Top 30 in 2014. The same goes for these contestants: Michael Simeon, LeBryant Crew, Keri Lynn Roche, Jesse Roach, Leah Guerrero and Sabrina Lantini. Better luck next time guys!
Check out 21-year-old Leah Guerrero as she sings her heart out in a bid to become one of the "American Idol" 2014 Season 13 Top 30:
Guerrero sang "I'd Rather Go Blind" by Etta James in front of AI Season 13 judges Keith Urban, Harry Connick, Jr. and Jennifer Lopez.
Watch 26-year-old Maurice Townsend singing "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus.
Here's a video of Emmanuel Zidor singing "Im Going Down" by Mary J. Blige/Rose Royce:
Finally, here's 20-year-old Alex Preston singing a song about fairy tales and damsels in distress:
Lopez, Urban and Connick, Jr. couldn't decide between Jesse Roach and Jessica Meuse so they had a sing-off. The judges voted in favour of Jessica.
Here's a partial list of AI Season 13 hopefuls who made it to the Top 30:
1. Emily Piriz
2. Spencer Lloyd

The fate of "American Idol" Season 13 hopefuls C.J. Harris and Casey Thrasher hangs in the balance and will be revealed in the next episode. The rest of the AI Top 30 in 2014 will also be revealed on "American Idol" 2014 Season 13 Episode 10 "Hollywood Round, Week #3" which will be aired on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014.
One of the highlights of the "American Idol" 2014 Season 13 Episode 9 "Hollywood Round, Week #2" is former AI judge turned in-house mentor Randy Jackson's appearance! Harry and Keith jokingly tried to audition for AI with Randy being the judge. Too bad they didn't go through.
