"American Idol" 2014 is finally improving. Season 13 might work well for new AI executive producer Per Blankens, after all. Now, who gets eliminated this Top 9 week? In the bottom three could be CJ Harris, Dexter Roberts and Majesty York. Caleb Johnson was the star of the Top 9 performance night. What will the results show?
American Idol Season 13 judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr wanted "superstar performances." A few Idol hopefuls took the challenge. Caleb Johnson dished the best act of the Top 9 night when he rocked Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused."
Jena Irene Asciutto, one of the two American Idol 2014 Top 13 wildcards remaining in the competition, is blossoming. Harry Connick Jr said Malaya Watson gets the "consistently improving" award. But that was before Mr Who Dat saw Jena perform. Jena was the last performer on the Idol Top 9 performance night.
Jena followed Caleb Johnson's blazing rockstar act. Harry noted it was a major feat for Jena to hold her own after Caleb's number. Jena tackled "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence with charm and aplomb; she looked like a legit pop star on the American Idol stage.

So far on American Idol Season 13, only Caleb Johnson and Jena Irene Asciutto have worked the stage like truly promising contestants. That said, Caleb and Jena topped the showstoppers in many Idol viewers' list this week. Malaya Watson and Alex Preston might be safe, too.
Malaya had some very good moments when she belted a Beatles classic. It could be enough for her to make it to American Idol Season 13 Top 8. Alex Preston's "Don't Speak" (No Doubt) cover sounded like a Billboard charter.
Alex and Malaya have yet to look and sound like they own the Idol 2014 stage, but they are far ahead in the competition compared to C.J. Harris, Dexter Roberts, and even the pitch-perfect tween crooner (also WGWG) Sam Woolf.

Many American Idol viewers predicted C.J. Harris would be in the bottom three a week ago. However, he had more voters than Majesty Rose, Dexter Roberts and MK Nobilette, who was eliminated at 10th place. Will this week's Idol Top 8 Results show declare him still safe?
CJ Harris was not convincing when he sang The Steel Drivers' "If It Hadn't Been For Love." Dexter Roberts' take on Little Big Town's "Boondocks" reconciles with his bottom three landing a week ago. (Dex sounded good, but he is losing his charm by being too predictable.)
Majesty York, who was in the bottom three for two weeks in a row, may not be safe despite a very good cover of "Shake It Out" (Florence + The Machine). She could be that type of Idol contestant who just does not draw in the voters. Will she leave American Idol in the ninth place?
UPDATE: American Idol 2014 Season 13 9th placer is Majesty Rose York. She was one of the judges' favorites in the auditions, but the voters have not been too forgiving of her since she covered "Let It Go," a widely popular track from the OST of the Disney film "Frozen." In the bottom three with Majesty were Sam Woolf and CJ Harris.
This is Sam's second time in the bottom three, and CJ's first. Caleb Johnson and Alex Preston are the only ones among the boys who have not been in the bottom three of American Idol 2014 (Season 13). Among the girls, only Jessica Meuse has evaded the bottom, so far. Five guys, three girls left on AI 2014.
