Amazon’s Mysterious ‘3D Smartphone’: Launch Date and Specifications; [Watch New Video From Amazon]

By on

Amazon will be introducing its first '3D Smartphone' at an event scheduled for June 18, 2014 in Seattle. BGR stumbled on to a YouTube video that was uploaded by Amazon recently.

It is worth noting that, in the entire 50 seconds of the video, the mysterious smartphone will not be shown even once. The video captures the reactions of the users, who are in possession of a mysterious device on their hands.

Amazon's brand new smartphone is expected to sport a 4.7 inches screen, with 720p display resolution. The handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which houses a good 2 GB of RAM. In addition, this unannounced phone will feature an incredible 3D software interface and a 13 MP rear-facing camera unit.

Additionally, this device will house a unique 'six individual' camera units and a heavily skinned version of Google's Android operating system similar to Amazon's Kindle Fire tablets. According to the leaked image, the handset is relatively thicker when compared to the top-selling smartphones of 2014.

Mysterious Camera Unit and 3D Interface

The smartphone is expected to debut a unique interface with 3D technology, says BGR. This is achieved by enabling four front-facing infrared cameras that assist in tracking the position of the user's head with respect to the device's screen. In addition, the device will house several sensors to get the best out of the captured image.

The unique selling point is its gesture-based controls that will enable easy access to menus and other information.

Unique Offer

The company has come up with a specialised data plan called 'Prime Date,' tied to the upcoming device. If rumors were true, the smartphone could be exclusive to AT&T and 'Prime Data' could be a monthly data plan that is aimed at giving free prime video and music streaming service to users.
