After a year of Miley Cyrus controversial VMA performance, MTV is back for its 31st Annual Video Music Awards packed with today's hottest artists and epic performances. Leading the nominees with eight nods, Beyonce bagged the Best Collaboration Award for her hit single "Drunk in Love" with rapper husband Jay Z beating Eminem's "The Monsters" with Rihanna and Pitbull's "Timber" with Kesha.

One of the top-billed performers, Queen Bey is this year's recipient of the Video Vanguard Award with Jay Z planting a kiss on her lips in front of the audience with daughter Blue Ivy in his arms. The same award was given to Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears and Red Hot Chili Peppers in the past.

The hip-hop diva celebrated her victory with an incredible performance and stunned the audience during the Aug. 7 medley performance. "She is performing her album, every song in a wrapped up 15 minute performance with other sprinkled surprises," Hollywood Life reports exclusively.

Thanks to her twerking performance during last year's award show, the former Disney star took home the award for Video of the Year for her song "Wrecking Ball." Her scandalous video won over Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" featuring Charli XCX, Sia's "Chandelier," Beyonce and Jay Z's "Drunk in Love" and Pharrell Williams' "Happy."

For Best Male and Female Video category, Ed Sheeran won the man on the moon statue for his song "Sing" with Pharrell Williams and Katry Perry for her hit single "Dark Horse" featuring Juicy J. Perry Beat Beyonce's "Partition," Lorde's "Royals," Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" and Ariana Grande's "Problem."
