Apple unveiled an inexpensive iMac 2014 model recently. With all the bulky desktop PCs making no noise, Apple's iMac series of systems have survived till today. The latest all-in-one desktop iMac 2014 model is being sold at a lower price range right from the time of its release. The brand new iMac variant is priced at $1,099 (AU$1,349 and £899).

As far as the specification goes, the new 21.5-inches iMac 2014 comes with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels screen resolution. The display is crystal clear and bright. In addition, the view from both horizontal and vertical angles are perfect. Also, the display is connected to the stand with a flexible joint that allows 30 degrees vertical adjustment, according to CNet.

The 21.5-inches iMac 2014 model comes with the same slim body as the existing 21.5-inches iMac model, but it does not replace the current model. Even though the new entry-level iMac variant has a lower price tag, there is a significant reduction in the specifications.

The new iMac 2014 is powered by a dual-core Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz, 8 GB of RAM. The older 21.5-inches iMac model, on the other hand, is powered by a superior quad-core version of processor.

In addition, the Intel graphics specification has taken a beating from the good Intel Iris Pro to the inferior Intel HD 5000. Notably, the new iMac model comes with only a 500 GB of spinning platter hard drive. When it comes to operating system, the new model runs on OS X v10.9 Mavericks and it is upgradable to OS X v10.10 Yosemite in future.

Other significant features include four high-speed USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port and SDXC card slot. In addition, the iMac 2014 supports the standard Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, and Bluetooth 4.0.  Apple iMac 2014 comes bundled with the standard wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse. Moreover, Apple's iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand tools and the iWork with Numbers, Keynote and Pages are part of the new iMac 2014, says NDTV.
